Chris and Michelle kicked off the podcast by talking about just that—how location and schools are top priorities for folks buying homes these days. And honestly, we couldn’t agree more! Our community is growing, and with all the new homes popping up, it’s so important to know what educational options are available.

Meet Joanie: Our Passionate Leader

Joanie shared a bit about herself—did you know she’s originally from Montgomery County in Maryland? She’s been all over, from Minnesota to Africa, before settling here in Winchester. With five kids of her own and years of homeschooling experience, Joanie brings a wealth of knowledge and a heart full of passion to our academy.

So, What Makes Eukarya Stand Out?

During the podcast, Joanie dove into what sets us apart.

• Small Class Sizes: We keep our classes cozy with no more than 14 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. And an average class size of 12 for sixth-twelfth grade. We want all our children to be known and valued.
• Customized Education: Every student is unique, right? We tailor education to meet each child where they are, whether they’re ahead in math or need a bit more support in reading.
• Classical Education Approach: We believe in teaching in layers—building knowledge, fostering critical thinking, and helping students express themselves confidently. Read more of our classical approach.

But probably most importantly: we’re not just a school; we’re part of the larger Eukarya Family Center—a nonprofit dedicated to helping families from all walks of life.

Homeschooling? We’ve Got You Covered!

Joanie talked about our Homeschool Academy too. If you’re homeschooling or considering it, we offer classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays to supplement your home education. Plus, we provide all the support and resources you might need.

Extracurriculars That Spark Joy

We’re big on nurturing passions here. From our amazing drama program (think productions like Les Misérables) to sports starting in fifth grade, there’s something for everyone.
