Eukarya Academy's Statement of Faith
The statement of faith adopted by Eukarya Christian Academy is limited to those primary nondenominational Christian doctrines which set Christianity apart from other faiths. Portions of the following statement of faith are borrowed with permission from the National Christian Foundation for Education and the Arts By-Laws.
- We believe that the God of the Bible is the source of all truth. Thus, all genuine intellectual pursuits lead logically to God. This one God reveals Himself as three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and is self-existent, eternal, unchanging, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, holy, righteous, and loving (2 Cor. 13:14; Col. 1:15-20).
- We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Bible. That is, it is the infallible Word of God, written by men inspired by the Holy Spirit. As such it, and not man, is the standard of truth (Jeremiah 9:23-24; Colossians 2:8; 2 Tim. 3:16-17). It is the ultimate source of knowledge about God and the only definitive guide for our daily lives.
- We believe the primary goal of life and education to be the glory of God which comes about by living a life that uses all our talents while pointing to Jesus Christ.
- We believe the Gospel. That the only Son of God (Jesus) came in the flesh to take the sins of the world, was crucified, died, was buried and on the third day was raised from the dead (Romans 5:8; 1 Cor. 15:1-3), and that all who believe on His name are forgiven and granted eternal life (John 1:11-13, 5:24; Romans 4:5; Titus 3:5).
- We believe that every believer in Christ is inhabited by the Holy Spirit, and called through Him to “do greater works than (Jesus) did” (John 14:12). We believe that Christians need to learn to walk in the Spirit so they reflect the fruit thereof (Gal. 5:22-23).
- We agree with the Nicene Creed and the historic tenets ‘by Scripture alone’, ‘by the cross alone’, ‘by grace alone’, ‘by faith alone’, ‘Christ alone’, and ‘glory to God alone’.
- We seek to promote unity and charity among those who affirm these truths but have differing convictions within some areas of Christian life. We teach and apply dogmatically and unapologetically these truths, but acknowledge that sincere Christians hold differing views on certain non-essential issues.
- Humanity - All human beings bear God’s image and are thus inherently valuable—beginning at conception—whether or not society regards them as healthy, productive, or useful. As God’s image bearers, men and women of all races and nationalities have the capacity and the calling to steward the gifts they have been given, create economic and social value, pursue justice, stand against evil, and act in a transforming way in culture, in accordance with God’s word and values, as indicated in scripture.
- Marriage - God made human beings male and female, equal in value but complementary in their relationship to one another (Gen. 1:26-27). Gender is not merely a social construction but part of a loving Creator’s design that is lived out in singlehood as well as in marriage, which we believe has been created by God and intended for one man and one woman for life (Gen. 2:18-25). Man/woman marriage is the only proper place for intimate sexual relationships, and is the proper place to welcome children—by birth or adoption—as a blessing from God. As valuable as marriage is, though, we believe that only God can ultimately meet our need for intimacy and that our identity is properly placed in Christ rather than our marital status or our assessment of our feelings of sexual attraction. We believe that God defined marriage as the life-long covenant between one man and one woman, and that all forms of sexual activity outside of marriage are sin.
- The Sanctity of Human Life - We believe human beings are created by God in His image. Therefore every person, from conception to natural death, possesses inherent dignity and immeasurable worth—including preborn children, elderly individuals, those with special needs and others marginalized by society. Christians, then, are called to defend, protect, and value all human life in accordance with values that are given in scripture (Psalm 139:13-14a).
- Unity within the Body of Christ- We stand together against racism in any form and also maintain that ideologies including Critical Race Theory and intersectionality are incompatible with the message of the Gospel. While we will continue to speak and teach with clear conviction against racism in any form, we understand that the sure and certain cure to any evil of this age is the gospel of Jesus Christ. In an effort to uphold our core value of unity, we will not teach divisions based on socio-economic, race, and gender differences in order to subdivide people into interest groups who are organized around grievances or differences of belief. We will teach students to acknowledge and value the worth and dignity of every human as someone created in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27, Gal 3:28, Rom 2:11, Prov 22:2, James 3:17).
- The Value of Male and Female - We believe God created humans in His image, intentionally and immutably male and female from birth, each bringing unique and complementary qualities to sexuality and relationships. Sexuality is a glorious gift from God to be offered back to Him either in marriage for procreation, union, and mutual delight or in celibacy for undivided devotion to Christ. Christians are called to proclaim the truth and beauty of God’s design and the redemption of sexual brokenness in our lives and culture through Jesus Christ. We believe that God immutably creates each person to reflect His image as male or female (Romans 12:1-2).
